What We Do:
We provide overnight accommodations, meals and resources to homeless families with children. While in our program, all adults must seek employment and housing as we strive to help them reach independence. Families meet with our Social Worker who helps them create goals surrounding these initiatives. Along with this, families participate in Parenting Classes, Financial Literacy Classes and Life Skills Classes. Our purpose is not just to act as a “shelter”, but to help families achieve sustainable independence. We do this by engaging our community, volunteers and local church congregations.

Current Opportunities:

Individual-Ongoing:
Monday- Friday 4:00pm-6:30pm House Sitter
Saturday 9am-6:30pm House Sitter
Sunday 9am-6:30pm House Sitter

We like volunteers to be at our Family Promise House 24/7. These are the slots we need help filling. Volunteers for these times would simply be available to our families to provide care and friendly smiles in case a need arises. Bring a book or your iPad to keep you busy!

All volunteers will need to fill out an application and submit a background check. Family Promise covers the cost of the background check in conjunction with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department.
